In early January, Taste Atlas, the prestigious global culinary guide based in Croatia, announced the annual 100 Best Food 2025 awards. In the 100 Best Dishes in the World category, pho bo was the only representative from Vietnam, ranking 93rd and earning a rating of 4.44 stars.

The results were based on nearly 400,000 votes from thousands of experts, diners, and chefs for over 11,000 famous dishes from countries around the world. The ranking score is based on stars, with the highest being 5 stars. The rankings are updated monthly, with the most recent update in December 2024, and the ranking remained the same as of January this year. In the December 2023 announcement, Vietnam had two representatives in the top 100, including banh mi and pho bo.

Describing pho bo, Taste Atlas experts wrote: "Pho bo is made from meat from various parts of the cow, with broth simmered from bones and tail, along with cinnamon, star anise, cloves, and cardamom. Diners can choose between rare or well-done beef." Experts also noted that beef is the most favored type of meat by the Vietnamese when eating pho. The dish is often served hot, accompanied by onions, fried dough sticks (quay), fresh herbs, and extra lime and chili.

On August 9, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced the new list of national intangible cultural heritage items, with Pho Nam Dinh and Hanoi both included.

In December 2024, Taste Atlas released the list of the 100 best cuisines in the world, with Vietnam ranked 22nd. Earlier, many of Vietnam's specialties, such as bun cha, banh mi, bun rieu, and bun oc, were also honored in smaller categories like the best street food and the best sandwich in the world.

The top 1 dish was awarded to Lechona, a traditional whole roasted pig dish from Colombia, with a total of 4.78 stars. Countries with the most representatives in the top 100 include Italy (12 dishes), China (9), Japan (8), and Thailand (6).

Taste Atlas, founded in 2015, connects 9,000 local restaurants and introduces tens of thousands of dishes to readers based on thousands of reviews and research by culinary experts and chefs. The website is considered a world map of traditional dishes made from local ingredients.
